How does a HIFU face treatment work?

The highly focused ultrasound energy creates thermal coagulation zones at three different selected depths 4.5mm /3.0mm /1.5mm following which a wound healing response results in the formation of new collagen, thus providing a longer term tightening of the skin.

Generally a noticeable improvement in the patients facial contouring, lines and wrinkles will be visible within a 1-4 week period, whilst further improvement in skin tightening and wrinkles will be reportedly seen up to 6 months. These three layers are consequently targeted by firing ultrasound beams into the skin at depths of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm, the latter penetrating the muscular layer.
