CELLURASE
Home » CELLURASE
Cellulite is the term for the formation of lumps and dimples in the skin. The appearance of ‘bumpy’ skin varies in shape and size and is present in over 80% of people over the age of 20. It can affect both men and women, however, is more common in females due to the different distributions of fat, muscle and connective tissue.
Cellurase is a new treatment in the UK although it has been used successfully in Europe for some time. ADL are one of the first clinics in the UK to offer this treatment. Cellurase treats cellulite by breaking and releasing the bands of fibrous connective tissue with a special microblade. This allows the skin to spring back resulting in a smoother appearance.
Cellurase treatment consists of 2 stages:
Stage 1
Injection lipolysis (breakdown of the fat by injecting Aqualyx)
Stage 2
Breakdown of connective tissue strands using the Cellurase blade.
Prior to treatment, a detailed medical history will be taken, helping the medical specialist to determine whether Cellurase is an appropriate treatment for you. Not all patients are suitable, including those who have soft cellulite, bleeding disorders, are pregnant/breastfeeding or allergic to anaesthetic.
During this consultation you will be asked about the results you are hoping to achieve, assessed and advised about how many peels you will require and explained the potential risks and aftercare recommendations are discussed.

FAQ’s
Patients report the procedure not being very painful due to its non-invasive qualities, meaning there are no needles involved and nothing is piercing the skin surface.
Local anaesthetic is used to minimise any pain during the procedure, although there may be a moderate degree of discomfort during the treatment of certain areas.
The injection of local anaesthetic may cause a stinging sensation before numbing takes place. If you find the procedure uncomfortable, further local anaesthetic can be administered.
The results are immediate and once a specific depression is treated it should not need further treatment.
Usually around 10 depressions can be treated in one session.
After your treatment, skin is cleansed and dressings applied. We recommend you do the following:
- Take paracetamol if you are experiencing tenderness.
- Wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and discomfort.
- Avoid any treatments in the area a couple of weeks either side.
- Avoid alcohol, smoking and anti-inflammatories for a few days afterwards.
- Avoid swimming, steam rooms and saunas doing anything where water or chemicals might touch the treated area.
